23rd World Record for Isinbajewa on CONICA Surface
The pole-vaulter Jelena Isinbajewa set a new world record with 5,04m at the IAAF Super Grand Prix Meeting in Monaco. She improved her own best mark by one centimetre and consequently, set her 23rd world record. Her last world record (5,03m) broke the 26-year-old Russian also on a CONICA surface in the Olympic Stadium in Rome in the mid of July.
World season best performances were set by the Jamaican Melanie Walker in the women’s 400m hurdles (53,48s), the Portuguese Naide Gomes in the long jump (7,12m) and the Kenyan Daniel Kipchirchir Komen in the men’s 1500m (3:31,49). Asafa Powell won the men’s 100m with an excellent time of 9,82s.
